Manning the pumps this morning at a Gas City located in Mokena, Marty commiserated with fellow community members about sky-rocketing gas prices.
As he filled the tanks of cars, SUVs, a motor home, and even a 2-gallon jug for a lawn mower, Marty interacted one-on-one with all sorts of people concerned with the amount of money they are pouring into their vehicles.
“I haven’t met one person yet who is okay with the price of gas these days,” Marty said while taking a short break to do a radio interview over the phone.
Marty’s conversations with voters of District 11 gave him the opportunity to outline his comprehensive energy plan at a location where people feel the energy crisis pain the most—at the pump.
Marty’s two-pronged plan involves both short and long-term solutions for alleviating the pain at the pump.
For immediate relief, Marty supports repealing the state sales tax on gasoline, which could reduce prices by 25 cents per gallon at $4 per gallon. He also supports eliminating the “Boutique Fuels” mandate, which would reduce prices by another 10 cents.
Perhaps even more importantly, Marty’s long-term solutions involve increasing the supply of gas by using our own energy sources and pushing the government to get serious about investing in alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower.
Cautiously enthused
At first glance I'd say your a good decent individual. However, the cynical person I've become wonders if you are as good as gold... to as when you get to Washington, that you wont tarnish and become corrupted like the other "politicians"
The constitution is the law of the land and is unforgivable when a politician believes he is above it.
I want a formal declaration of the War in Iraq! Otherwise it's illegal.
